A Big Decision Is Coming to Langley

Langley City is asking residents to weigh in on two major recreation projects: a $107 million expansion of Timms Community Centre with a new 500-seat performing arts theatre, and a $71.7 million upgrade to the Al Anderson Memorial Pool.
If approved, property taxes would increase by about $618 a year for a detached home and $262 for a townhouse or apartment.
The online survey opens tomorrow and runs through May 1. Complete it and you're entered to win $100 in Langley City Downtown dollars. There's also an in-person open house on April 14 and a virtual session on April 29.
Head to letschat.langleycity.ca starting tomorrow.
SkyTrain Construction: New Traffic Changes This Week
If you drive along Fraser Highway or near 200 Street, plan ahead before Tuesday morning.
Starting April 6, there will be no right turn from Fraser Highway westbound onto 64 Avenue for commercial vehicles, running through to May 1. Intermittent driveway closures on the north side of Fraser Highway west of 196 Street are also starting April 6 and expected to last up to one month. Starting April 7, the right southbound lane of 200 Street near Industrial Avenue will be closed from 7am to 2pm for about two days.
Workers are currently building foundations and guideway columns along Fraser Highway between 184 Street and the Langley Bypass, with the Langley Launcher crane moving east hauling pre-cast guideway segments into place. The SkyTrain is on track for a 2029 opening.
Sports Weekend Recap
VFC Open Their Season, Fort Langley Regatta Returns
Vancouver FC opened their 2026 CPL season with a narrow 1-0 home loss to Halifax Wanderers at Willoughby Stadium on Saturday. VFC outpointed the visitors in shots on goal, passing accuracy, and duels won but couldn't find the net. A Terran Campbell overhead kick struck the crossbar in the closing seconds. The next home game is Sunday April 12 vs Forge FC at 4pm. Tickets from $20.26 at showpass.com. Free parking.

The Head of the Fort Rowing Regatta also returned to the Fraser River near Fort Langley this weekend, one of those great local traditions that tends to fly under the radar. Competitive rowing on the Fraser with Fort Langley village as a backdrop is worth adding to your list for next year if you missed it.
