The Fort Langley Farmers Market Opens This Saturday

Fort Langley Village Farmer’s Market Est. 2010
One of the best Saturday morning traditions in Langley is back.
The Fort Langley Village Farmers Market opens this Saturday April 18 and runs every Saturday through December 5, 2026, from 9am to 3pm at 9025 Glover Road, outside St. Andrew's Historic Chapel.
The market is an authentic BC Farmers Market with fresh local produce, field greens, vegetables, fruits, and fresh-cut flowers grown locally, fresh baked goods, hot food, BC artisans, local craft beer, and varietal BC wines and spirits!
The market typically starts with around 30 vendors in spring and grows through the summer, set against the backdrop of the historic St. Andrew's Chapel on Glover Road.
Free to attend. Rain or shine every Saturday from now until December. Hope to see you there at some point!
More Buses Coming to Four Langley Routes Starting April 20

Four local bus routes are getting more service starting April 20. The 501 from Langley Centre to Surrey Central will add weekday afternoon service, running every 8 to 10 minutes between 2 and 3pm. The 531 from White Rock Centre to Willowbrook will see shorter wait times on weekdays. The 342 gets a new early morning weekday trip toward Newton at 4:57am. And the 562 from Langley Centre to Walnut Grove will now serve Trinity Western University on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays.
Good news if you rely on transit to get around!
Asking Rents in Langley Dipped in March
According to data tracked by the Langley Union, asking rents in Langley showed a decline in March, no surprise as it’s a continuing trend seen across much of Canada. The shift reflects a mix of factors including increased rental supply, slower population growth, and changing market conditions. Whether it signals a longer-term trend remains to be seen.

A Family-Owned Grocery Store is Opening on 200 St
West Coast Grocery Hub is expected to open this month at 5785 200 St. in Langley City, in the former ICR Thrift Store space. The family-owned shop will carry dry goods, produce, meat, baking, and frozen foods, plus a sweet shop, kitchen wares, and a food truck on site.
Save-On-Foods Could Be Coming to Brookswood
Jim Pattison Developments has received three readings of a rezoning bylaw for a large mixed-use development at 32 Avenue and 200 Street in Brookswood, including 452 apartments and a proposed Save-On-Foods. Still a few steps from shovels in the ground, but moving in the right direction for a neighbourhood that has been asking for more grocery options for years.

A Langley Choir Turns 50 This Weekend
We received a lovely tip from a reader this week about an event worth knowing about.

The Valley Festival Singers are celebrating their 50th anniversary with three concerts this weekend. The first show is this Friday April 17 at Langley Mennonite Fellowship Church from 7 to 9pm. Two further performances take place at Calvin Presbyterian Church in Abbotsford on April 18 at 7pm and April 19 at 3pm.
The program includes Johann Sebastian Bach's Jesu, meine Freude, the same piece performed at the very first Valley Festival Singers concert back in 1976. The concerts also feature a professional string quartet and piano accompanist Betty Suderman, a founding member of the choir who has been with it since the very beginning.
Fifty years of choral music rooted in this community is a milestone worth celebrating. Purchase tickets here.
